The word “millipede” comes from the Latin words mille, meaning “thousand,” and ped, meaning “foot.” However, most millipedes don’t actually have 1,000 legs. The majority of millipede species only have between 80-400 legs. Millipedes eat decomposing plants and leaf litter. Eating this way classifies them as detritivores—eaters of detritus, waste, and debris. Some species will also eat fungi and dead animals. According to fossil records, millipedes appear to be the first animal to breathe atmospheric oxygen and transition from living in water to living on land. The first known millipede fossil dates back to the Silurian period, approximately 430 million years ago.

There are over 2,500 species of stick insect in the World.  Indian Stick Insects are just one variety.  Their Latin name is Carausius morosus.  Stick Insect Eggs are round and brown with a yellow nodule.  They look like tiny seeds.  One female can lay several hundred eggs during an average life of around a year. Only one in one thousand Indian stick insects are male.  This species is parthenogenetic, which means the females are able to lay fertile eggs on their own.

Poison dart frogs are Central and South American Dendrobatidae amphibians. These unique frogs have amazing colors. They can be red, green, blue, or black. This less-than-1-inch species has poison that can kill both animals and people. Their diet has a substantial impact on the amount of poison they can produce, according to researchers. These frogs are known for their ability to shoot poison darts at their prey. On the contrary, confined poison dart frogs prefer to feed on non-poisonous insects such as fruit flies and crickets. Poisonous Golden Dart Frogs are the most dangerous. Poison Dart Frogs can’t swim well.

Burmese pythons are among the largest snakes on Earth. They are capable of reaching 23 feet (7 meters) or more in length and weighing up to 200 pounds (90 kilograms) with a girth as big as a telephone pole. Burmese pythons often fast for a long time between meals, going weeks or months without eating. During this time, their stomach volume, acidity, and intestinal mass all shrink. After they ingest prey, Burmese pythons restructure their intestines, produce extra stomach acid, and even increase the mass of their hearts to help produce enough energy for digestion.
